Four suitable materials for manufacturing and processing shearing machine blades

The material of the shearing machine blade is very important to the shearing process. Various high-hardness high-speed steels add some alloying elements, such as Si, Cr, and Mo, to ordinary high-speed steel, which further improves its fatigue resistance, heat resistance, and wear resistance.
1: 9CrSi shearing machine blade, room temperature hardness reaches 67~69HRC, 600-degree hardness reaches 54~55HRC, shearing performance is comparable to T8 high-speed steel, and its performance is better than T8, but the price is slightly higher. The allowable cutting speed when making shearing machine blades is 1.67m/s. Because it contains more Cr, its processing is more complex, and it is highly sensitive to overheating, with significant oxidation and decarburization. The heat treatment range must be controlled during use.
2: 6CrW2Si shearing machine blade, the price is higher than 9CrSi. Adding W to high-speed steel can improve the material's thermal stability, room temperature and high-temperature hardness, and oxidation resistance. It can shear domestic and imported stainless steel.
3: Cr12MoV shearing machine blade, the carbon content is lower than that of Cr12 steel, and the addition of appropriate amounts of Mo and V improves the non-uniformity of carbides. Mo can reduce carbide segregation and improve hardenability, while V can refine grains, increase toughness, and wear resistance. Cr12MoV steel has high hardenability, and a cross-section below 400mm can be completely quenched. It can still maintain good hardness and wear resistance at 300-400℃. It has higher toughness than Cr12 steel and small volume change during quenching. It also has high wear resistance and good comprehensive mechanical properties, suitable for manufacturing various cutting tools and molds with large loads and high operating temperatures.
4: H13 shearing machine blade, H13 (4Cr5MoSiV1), which is the American steel grade H13, has high hot strength and hot hardness, good toughness under medium temperature conditions, good thermal fatigue performance, and certain wear resistance. Therefore, the price is high, suitable for manufacturing various cutting tools for punching, rolling, and slitting thick plates. When shearing 5-15mm stainless steel or 5-25mm ordinary and low-alloy plates, the effect is significantly better than other materials such as 6CrW2Si, and it is a widely used material.
